Meaning EA wants this to feel new and distant from the previous entry in the series. The thinking behind ditching the “6” in favor of just Battlefield is the general feeling that it would be a continuation of the poorly-received Battlefield 5. He also points out that he doesn’t believe Bad Company 3 will be the name of this game either. Reasons for this are that Call of Duty has recently gone down this road with 2019’s Modern Warfare reboot.
